II. Contents

1.  Japanese Language Education

We aim to develop the Japanese communication skills and understanding of Japanese society, culture, and business practices necessary for international students beginning work in Japan. Japanese language courses, ranging from beginner to advanced levels, are offered year-round at both Shizuoka and Hamamatsu campuses. This allows students to start their Japanese studies immediately upon enrollment.

2.Career Education

Our career education module encourages students to explore the concept of ‘working in Japan’. It provides insights into the Japanese employment system, unique recruitment practices, and corporate culture. Students are also encouraged to participate in employment-related events both on and off-campus.

*A new course, ‘Thinking about Global Careers in Shizuoka’, is available to ABP-JC bachelor students. This interactive course includes extracurricular activities both inside and outside the campus. We highly recommend enrolling in this course. For more details, please consult the syllabus here.

3. Internship

Internships provide a valuable opportunity for international students, who may not be familiar with Japanese society and business practices, to gain simulated work experience. They learn about corporate sales and business activities through these programs.

4. Learning and Support Leading to Employment Preparation.

○Extracurricular Activities

The Shizuoka University Organization for International Collaboration (SUOIC) encourages interaction between international and Japanese students through activities in the international exchange lounge. We also collaborate with local organizations and educational institutions, facilitating students’ participation in homestays and exchange activities with elementary, junior high, and high school students.

○Employment Support

In addition to university-wide employment support, Shizuoka University provides faculty- and department-specific employment assistance. SUOIC aids international students in accessing these services. We also offer specialized employment support and individual consultations for international students. Beyond the university, we collaborate with the Consortium of Universities and Local Communities in Shizuoka and other local organizations to enhance networking opportunities between companies and international students.
