ABP First Semester Education

ABP first semester education (9th batch)

Shizuoka Campus / Hamamatsu Campus
1.About ABP first semester education

The ABP first semester education is the 15-week basic education program for international students of the undergraduate course of the Shizuoka University Asia Bride Program (ABP). All eligible international students will take the ABP Basic Japanese Course. Students in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences / School of Education take basic courses in humanities, while students in the Faculty of Informatics, Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Agriculture attend basic science courses.

2.Objectives and subjects

Objective: To take first-year classes at Shizuoka university, understand the lecture, and to develop sufficient Japanese language skills to submit the assignments and final report, and to take a quiz or final test.

ABP Basic Japanese (I to X): 10 classes / week (required)
ABP Japanese society: 1 class / week (required selection)
ABP Japanese History: 1 class / week (required selection)
ABP Japanese Geography: 1 class / week (required selection)
ABP Japanese politics: 1 class / week (required selection)
ABP Japanese Economy: 1 class / week (required selection)
ABP Basic Mathematics: 1 class / week (required selection)
ABP basic physics: 1 class / week (required selection)
ABP Basic Chemistry: 1 class / week (required selection)
ABP basic biology: 1 class / week (required selection)
ABP Basic Statistics: 1 class / week (required selection)
3.Class time

12-14 classes / 15 weeks (depending on the department)
8: 40-17: 35 (Monday-Friday)

4.Qualification

International students belonging to the ABP Bachelor Program

5.Evaluation

A comprehensive or a general or formative evaluation. The person in charge of each subject decides which evaluation method to use.

6.Grade evaluation

The grades are indicated by S (Outstanding), A (Excellent), B (Good), C (Pass) and D (Fail). S, A, B, and C are acceptable and D is unacceptable.
S: 90-100, A: 80-89, B: 70-79, C: 60-69, D:0-59

7.Extracurricular activities

In the first semester education period, activities are planned to visit companies in Shizuoka Prefecture.
