2019: The 6th Inter-Academia Asia Conference Shizuoka, Japan

From December 2 through December 4, 2019, Shizuoka University hosted the sixth Inter-Academia Asia(IAA) Conference for its Southeast Asian and South Asian partner universities at Hotel Associa Shizuoka. We invited ten academics and eight students from our nine partner universities.

The first day’s roundtable discussion began with remarks from Shizuoka University’s Vice -Director of the Organization for International Collaboration (OIC), Professor Yasuto Shirai. Shizuoka University and the nine attending universities made a presentation on efforts toward internationalizing the master’s degree programs. We had a discussion session in which attendees could share their opinions and ideas and shared many common examples of internationalization and networking efforts for research and education.

In the evening, we held signing ceremony of MoU, with President of Shizuoka University, Kiyoshi Ishii and President of Ma Chung University (Indonesia), Dr. Murpin Josua Sembiring. The dean of the faculty of agriculture, Prof. Naoki Tanaka and the dean of the faculty of science of Shizuoka University, Prof. Akio Morita witnessed the signing. After the ceremony, the guest academics of IAA and their Shizuoka University faculty and staff gathered at the networking dinner.

On the second day, 23 Shizuoka University graduate students and 9 graduate students from its partner universities took the stage to give presentations on their research for the Young Researchers’ Conference. The oral sessions were chaired by guest academics, and each presenter had 15 minutes to present their research, which was followed by questions and answers.

On the third day, the venue moved to the Shizuoka and Hamamatsu campuses to visit the graduate schools. All parties exchanged information and ideas on their respective research and education activities. We were blessed with a clear sky on that day, and we were able to enjoy the magnificent view of Mt. Fuji from and around the Shizuoka campus.

With this sixth conference, Shizuoka University has thus far welcomed attendees from 37 universities in eleven countries to the Inter-Academia Asia Conference. We will continue the conference to form the foundation for further exchange and cooperation among these universities.

第6回インターアカデミア・アジア（アジアの協定校との国際会議)を開催

2019年12月２日から４日までの3日間、アジアの協定校との国際会議インターアカデミア・アジア第６回会議が、アソシアホテル静岡を会場に開催されました。会には海外の6か国9大学から18名（教員10名、学生8名）を招聘しました。
初日（12月2日）のラウンドテーブルミーティングは、静岡大学副学長（国際戦略担当）の白井靖人教授（国際連携推進機構長）による挨拶に始まり、招聘９大学と静岡大学の修士課程における教育の国際化の取組に関する事例発表と意見交換を行いました。同日夜に、本学とマチュン大学（インドネシア）との大学間交流協定の締結にあたって本学石井潔学長およびDr. Murpin Josua Sembiringマチュン大学長による署名式を、交流の中心となる理学部と農学部の田中直樹教授・理学部長と森田明雄教授・農学部長の立ちあいのもとに行いました。その後、インターアカデミアアジア招聘者の歓迎会を開き、招聘教員・学生と静岡大学の教職員の交流の機会を持ちました。
２日目（12月3日）のYoung Researchers Conferenceでは、静岡大学の大学院から23名、招聘大学の大学院から9名が参加し、英語による研究発表を行いました。浜松キャンパスの工学専攻からも多くの参加者があり、招聘大学の教員が各分科会のチェアを務める中、各発表者は15分間の発表と質疑応答を行いました。
３日目（12月4日）は各キャンパスに会場を移し、研究科を訪問しました。静岡キャンパスでは理学・農学・人文社会学・教育学の研究科、グリーン科学技術研究所を訪問し、研究・教育活動について、意見交換をしました。当日は清々しい晴天に恵まれ、静岡キャンパスの周辺、各所から、また午後に訪問をした日本平から富士山の雄大な姿を堪能することができました。浜松キャンパスでは、タイ、インドからの招聘者が工学、情報学の各研究科を訪問しました。
今回で6回目を迎えるインターアカデミア・アジアの会議には、これまでに11か国37大学・機関が参加をしています。本会議は、大学間の協力関係を強化する機会として、今後も継続して開催する予定です。
