The 5th Inter-Academia Asia Conference

From December 3 through December 5, 2018, Shizuoka University hosted the fifth Inter-Academia Asia Conference for its Southeast Asian and South Asian partner universities at Hotel Associa Shizuoka. We invited eight academics and seven students from our eight partner universities.

The first day’s roundtable discussion began with remarks from Shizuoka University’s Vice -Director of the Organization for International Collaboration (OIC), Professor Yasuto Shirai. Professor Noriko Matsuda of the OIC continued with a presentation on efforts toward internationalizing the master’s degree programs at Shizuoka University and the eight attending universities. The proceedings next moved to a discussion session in which attendees could share their opinions and ideas regarding the presentation. All the universities shared many common examples of internationalization and networking efforts for research and education.

The guest academics and their Shizuoka University research partners gathered at the networking reception held that evening. Shizuoka University Vice President for International Affairs, Professor Shigehiko Suzuki, kicked off the reception with his opening address. Amid the friendly atmosphere that remained throughout reception, the attendees got to know each other much better.

On the second day, 25 Shizuoka University graduate students and 7 graduate students from its partner universities took the stage to give presentations on their research for the Young Researchers’ Conference. Shizuoka University student presentations represented all six of the university’s master’s degree courses: science, agriculture, informatics, engineering, humanities and social sciences, and education.

On the third day, the venue moved to the Shizuoka and Hamamatsu campuses to visit the graduate schools. All parties exchanged information and ideas on their respective research and education activities.

In the afternoon, the visitors to the Shizuoka Campus took a cultural tour of Nihondaira and Toshogu shrines, enjoying the natural beauty and cultural heritage offered at both sites.

With this fifth conference, Shizuoka University has thus far welcomed attendees from 32 universities in ten countries to the Inter-Academia Asia Conference. We will maintain the conference as a building block in our growing foundation for further exchange and cooperation among these universities.

第5回インターアカデミア・アジア（アジアの協定校との国際会議)を開催

2018年12月3日から5日までの3日間、アジアの協定校との国際会議インターアカデミア・アジア第5回会議が、アソシアホテル静岡を会場に開催されました。会には海外の5か国８大学から15名（教員８名、学生７名）を招聘しました。

12月3日月曜日、初日のラウンドテーブルミーティングは、静岡大学の白井靖人教授（情報学部・国際連携推進機構副機構長）による挨拶に始まり、松田紀子教授(国際連携推進機構)の議事進行により、招聘８大学と静岡大学の修士課程における国際化の取組に関する事例発表と意見交換を行いました。

各大学の海外の教育・研究ネットワーク展開、取り組んでいる研究課題には共通性のある部分も多く、より国際連携を強めるために有意義な情報交換の機会となりました。同日夜の交流会には、招聘教員と共同研究を行う静岡大学の教員や、研究科の教員が参加しました。冒頭に鈴木副学長による歓迎の挨拶があり、各協定校から来ている教員、学生間の親睦を深める時間となりました。

12月４日火曜日、２日目のYoung Researchers Conferenceでは、静岡大学の大学院から25名、招聘大学の大学院から7名が参加し、英語による研究発表を行いました。浜松からも多くの参加者があり、静岡大学修士課程の全６専攻（理学・農学・情報学・工学・人文社会・教育）の分野で発表がありました。招聘大学の教員が各分科会のチェアを務め、15分間の発表の後に、質疑応答を行いました。

12月5日水曜日、３日目は各キャンパスに会場を移し、研究科を訪問しました。静岡キャンパスでは、参加全５か国6大学からの招聘者が理学・農学・人文社会学の研究科を訪問し、研究・教育活動について、意見交換をしました。浜松キャンパスでは、マレーシア、インドからの招聘者が工学、情報学の各研究科を訪問しました。静岡キャンパスでは、午後に日本平と東照宮を訪問する市内ツアーを行い、静岡の歴史・文化遺産を楽しみました。

今回で５回目を迎えるインターアカデミア・アジアの会議には、これまでに10か国32大学・機関が参加をしています。本会議は、修士課程の国際化を焦点に、大学間の協力関係を強化する機会として今後も継続して開催する予定です。
