In early March 2024, Prof. Yoshimasa Kawata and Prof. Atsushi Ono visited the Abbe center of Photonics at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. Their visit encouraged a meaningful discussion on photonics research, shedding light on the longstanding collaboration between Jena and Hamamatsu, both key players in the photonics sector. Plans are in motion to establish a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Friedrich Schiller University Jena and Shizuoka University, aimed at fostering academic and student exchanges in engineering.

We extend our gratitude to Prof. Dr. Thomas Pertsch for hosting our delegates, and to Katsuya Tanaka, an alumnus of Shizuoka University and current researcher at the Max Planck School of Photonics, for his efforts in coordinating this event.
