On Friday, 8 September 2023, we had the pleasure of welcoming H.E. Mr. Ovidiu DRANGA, Ambassador of Romania to Japan, and Mr. Adrian IONESCU, Minister-counsellor of the Economic Office, to the Shizuoka University Hamamatsu Campus.

Guided by Associate Professor Daniel Moraru from the Research Institute of Electronics /Faculty of Engineering, they engaged in constructive discussions with Professor Yoshimasa Kawata (Trustee, Director of the Organization for Innovation & Social Collaboration), Professor Takashi Miyahara (Vice-dean, Faculty of Engineering), Professor Kazuhiko Hara (Dean, Graduate School of Medical Photonics), Professor Masakazu Kimura (Director, Research Institute of Electronics), and Professor Hidenori Mimura. Our guests also toured our educational and research facilities. Ambassador Dranga kindly expressed his aspirations for an enduring and enhanced international partnership between Shizuoka University and Romanian educational and research institutions, highlighting the prospective mutual benefits in the fields of economy and technology.

The delegation also visited the Takayanagi Memorial Hall, delving into the history of television research and appreciating the notable achievements of Shizuoka University graduates.

We anticipate welcoming researchers from our Romanian partner universities to the 20th Inter-Academia Conference at the Hamamatsu Campus on Wednesday, 27 September 2023. The Ambassador's visit underscored the value of nurturing relationships between Japanese and Romanian academic institutions.
