From May 13(Tue) to 15(Thu) 2025, a group of 33 faculty and staff members from Srinakharinwirot University in Thailand, a university level partner institution visited our university.
To promote meaningful exchange and collaborative learning between the visiting delegation and our university staff, Shizuoka University’s International Affairs Section, in cooperation with the Personnel Division, hosted a seminar as part of the “Globalization Training Program for Staff.” May 13 and 14, under the theme “Work Efficiency and Team Development,” the seminar was planned and conducted by the Global Education Project (GiFT). Ten administrative and technical staff members from Shizuoka University also joined the seminar.
While they faced the difficulties of communication due to the mix of English and Thai, participants enthusiastically engaged in small-group discussions. They made use of apps and creative communication strategies to overcome language barriers and deepen dialogue. A highlight of the seminar was the final session, where teams shared ideas on how to further enhance collaboration between Srinakharinwirot University and Shizuoka University, leading to concrete proposals for future joint initiatives.
On May 14, the meeting was held with faculty members from Shizuoka University’s Faculty of Education and their counterparts from Srinakharinwirot University. Dean of faculty of Education Dr. Kamatsuka, Vice Dean Dr. Nobuhara, and other faculty members were attended and Thai delegation included Dr. Kittikoon Rungruang, Dean of the Faculty of Education, along with six colleagues were there. The two institutions engaged in a lively exchange of ideas, exploring future opportunities for collaboration in both education and research. On May 15, the delegation visited Shizuoka University’s affiliated elementary and junior high schools. At the elementary school, they received an overview of the school’s educational approach and toured classrooms and facilities. At the junior high school, many third-year students enthusiastically approached the visitors and engaged in conversations in English. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for the students to broaden their horizons and experience cross-cultural interaction firsthand.
