An interactive internship that matches the management issues of companies in Shizuoka Prefecture with the expertise (research) of foreign students at Shizuoka University and also supports employment at the company began on September 15th at Somic.
The Somic internship took place online. In addition to a Specially Appointed Professor Fujimaki from the Organization for International Collaboration of Shizuoka University, one graduate student of the Faculty of Engineering from India and one graduate student of the Faculty of Engineering from Sudan, the person in charge of Somic was also present at the orientation. Professor Fujimaki said at the beginning, “Thank you very much for arranging this kind of internship under this environment COVID-19. Even though we cannot do the face-to-face internship, students can expect fruitful internship.”
At the orientation, after the company profile of the Somic Group was explained, the two foreign students were asked to confirm the research theme for this internship, and to proceed according to the schedule while checking the progress online every day.
Finally, the online orientation ended with a team building game. Mr. Sato, a person in charge of human resources at Somic, said, “Due to the influence of COVID-19, it became such an online internship, but I would like to take advantage of the good points of online to improve the internship.”
