On September 28th, the final report session for the interactive internship was held at Somic. The final report session was attended online by Somic employees, Indian student Ms.Alka (Graduate School of Electronics and Materials Science) and Sudanese student Ms.Nada (Graduate School of Informatics Computer Science).
At the session, Ms.Alka reported “Current Issues in the world (Heavy Metal Pollution) and Future technologies (Carbon Capture Usage & Storage)”. Ms.Alka introduced carbon nanotubes and carbon fiber as alternative materials to iron and metal used in the automobile industry, and proposed the idea of capturing carbon dioxide emitted from factories and using it for carbon fiber production. Ms.Nada reported “Proposal of Somic’s network and security system”. Ms.Nada proposed a system that connects the Somic headquarters in Japan and three branches in India using ICT technology.
Professor Fujimaki said, “I was very surprised by Ms.Alka’s proposal. The combination of stories from the introduction of new materials to CO2 emissions was very well done. Ms.Nada’s proposal was also great that the system is designed not only for networking but also with consideration for security and remote users. The proposals made by the two students are contributing to Somic’s future research. ”
President Ishikawa of Somic also said, “I’m very happy you both enjoyed the program. I hope to see you face-to-face next time.”
