On September 23rd, the midterm interactive internship report session was held at Shinba Iron Works.
In the meeting, President Shinba, Mr.Raymond (Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering), an Indonesian international student and 4 Shinba staff also attended. They reviewed the first half of the internship and shared and confirmed the contents of Mr. Raymond’s final presentation.
In the first half of the internship, it was reported that Mr.Raymond learned how to operate the software CAD (Computer Aided Design) that creates blueprints by using a computer, including a factory tour. At the final report session, by the request from Mr. Raymond, a series of practical training was made as a theme, creating a miniature model related to aircraft by using CAD and laser machining, and applying it to fluid analysis. Shinba staff Mr. Iwasaki who is the mentor of international students in this internship said, “International students want to absorb as much as possible, so it is worth teaching. If they have any questions, I think it’s good to ask questions immediately.”
President Shinba said, “At our company, we have had multinational employees, we also interact with overseas customers, so we need to increase human resources who understand diversity and global standards in order to revitalize the company. Mr. Raymond is good at Japanese, so I think the internship is very smooth.” Professor Fujimaki said, “I would like companies accepting internships to greedily consider hiring international students.”
The internship at Shinba Iron Works will continue until the final report session on September 29th.
