On September 30, the final report session for the interactive internship was held at Kyowa Leather. The final session was attended by Kyowa Leather employees, Indonesian student Mr.Billy (Chemistry and Biotechnology, Faculty of Engineering), and Thai student, Ms. Buntarawan (Graduate School of Chemistry and Biotechnology).
Mr.Billy presented the results of his practical training on coating issues given by Kyowa Leather, and then suggested the development of a film that uses a photoactive metal-organic framework to reduce carbon dioxide and generate oxygen. Ms. Buntarawan also announced the results of the training on the subject, and then suggested a treatment agent that not only has water repellency but also has antibacterial activity. Billy commented, “This internship made me realize that it is very important not to neglect the efforts to develop.”
Ms. Sato, who is in charge of hiring Japanese people in the Kyowa Leather General Affairs and Human Resources Department, said, “Comparing Japanese and international students, even if I give the same explanation, questions will be actively asked from a completely different perspective by international students, so I feel it is different from Japanese people. Even during the factory tour, I was asked detailed questions about what they saw, so it was fun for me as well. “.
Professor Fujimaki said, “I think that young people’s awareness of the environment has changed since I attended the final report session of this interactive internship. Especially, foreign students are very sensitive. Many international students gave final presentations related to the environment as a theme. I hope that they will be the driving force for changing the company based on these proposals. ”
